and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has called on the Biden administration to intervene in the negotiations and get a deal done quickly.

The president of the National Retail Federation said that port delays have negatively impacted retailers and stakeholders who rely on West Coast ports,
and that retailers need a smooth flow of goods.

The Impact of Increased Transportation Costs on U.S. Agricultural Exports

The limited number of ships and high demand in 2021 increased transportation costs,
which also affected U.S. agricultural exports, as carriers stopped importing U.S. agricultural products to quickly bring in empty containers,
creating a container shortage. In 2022, dockworkers were blamed for supply chain disruptions,
with longshoremen claiming that port terminal operators were trying to create a negative image of workers in the public ahead of contract negotiations.
Another issue facing workers is the attempt by port terminal operators to replace workers with robots leased from cities or the military.
