Cargo moving from the Port of Baltimore to other ports

While some may not see the movement of freight to other ports as a problem,
it is an issue that has an overall impact on the trucking industry in the region,
and the Port of Baltimore is heavily dependent on the container and auto transport industry passing through its terminals.
With the collapse of the highway and increased operating costs,
carriers are shifting freight to other ports so that they can continue to serve their customers without disruption.

It is expected that the motor carriers that operate out of the Port of Baltimore will be the hardest hit,
and it is unknown how long it will take to repair the collapsed bridge.
Local trucking companies will find it difficult to survive as economic activity is disrupted.
